Standard de Liege kick off a new era with STATSports

STATSports are delighted to announce a new agreement to become the official GPS performance tracking partner of Belgian Pro League club, Standard de Liege.

Standard have enjoyed a promising start to the 2024/25 season under Croatian manager Ivan Leko, who took over in January 2024.

They join other Belgian football giants Anderlecht, Royal Antwerp, Club Brugge & KV Mechelen in opting for STATSports, as they look to build on a positive start to Leko’s tenure.

Daniel Watson, Standard Liege’s Head of Performance:

”Accurate, reliable and ease of use player tracking is a non-negotiable at Standard De Liege. Following an extensive tender process, STATSports were the outstanding provider in terms of quality and customer success. We are delighted to start a long-term collaboration and look forward to developing our services throughout this partnership.

Approved by FIFA, STATSports have proven to be the most trusted performance-tracking system in sport. Top clubs across the world of football such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, PSG, and Juventus have all chosen STATSports to elevate their performance tracking.

The system allows clubs to accurately monitor the physical performance of their players in real-time, collecting data on metrics such as distance covered, speed, acceleration, deceleration, and high-intensity efforts.

This data is then analysed using STATSports’ advanced data analysis software where coaches and medical staff gain insights into player performance and injury risk.

This can be done live in-session with our Sonra Live iPad & Sonra Watch technology and post-session, with highly accurate data reporting and rapid download speeds.

The ability to track accurately live allows coaches to monitor group and individual thresholds, using an RAG (Red/Amber/Green) system, meaning the squad is sufficiently loaded.

Sharing data is seamless with Sonra’s instant reporting abilities. Post-session, the Sports Science staff can immediately download the report and airdrop or email it to other key stakeholders within the coaching staff.

Using that data, the staff can then adjust on-pitch load or strength training programs to the specific needs of individual players, optimising performance and reducing risk of injury.

This partnership with Standard de Liege further marks the significant footprint STATSports has in European football, as more and more clubs invest in the world’s most accurate GPS performance tracking system.
