STATSports delivers on Project MAESTRO aided by financial support from EU

Project Description

The basic premise of the MAESTRO project was that there was a need to help developers of assistive technologies to better develop their products to suit the needs of older people and a need for older people and their care givers to better understand what technology could help them to age well and how to access it.

The project set out to create a reference framework for AAL tool evaluation, the production of a software platform and the subsequent intensive testing with different stakeholders.

This was tested during a twelve-month pilot phase with various potential users and their feedback gathered to validate the proof of concept.

Aims

The Aim of the project for STATSports was to investigate potential applications of our fitness monitoring system within the health care setting and specifically to analyse any commercial potentials within the silver market

Results

The project introduced STATSports to a European consortium of companies all working in health and wellbeing industry, providing hardware, software and service solutions.

A major result for STATSports was developing and working in-depth with Siel Blue and a cohort of older participants during a pilot phase. This process proved out that the STATSports Apex product can be used to measure specific mechanical movements within a senior age group that will help them age better.

For STATSports the project was detailed and covered all aspects of commercial investigation, analysis, systems and platform development and assessment.

Project MAESTRO for STATSports, as an SME, gave us valuable hands-on insight into a new market segment.

This project has also provided STATSports with insights in terms of changes that we needed to make to our technology in order for it to be used by older users and also within the healthcare domain.

We are now planning to embark upon performing further R&D around eliciting requirements for products for these markets.

This engagement in the MAESTRO project and pilot phase has directed us to greater investigate the healthcare market, specifically the silver market segment on our commercial agenda.
