And we are down to the last two teams battling it out for Sunday’s Sam Maguire Cup, race that started in New York on 7th May. After 61 championship games, including a few replays, Dublin take on Mayo for the Championship at Croke Park.
With all the hype leading up to the final, we must not forget the referee Joe McQuillan. Joe, from Kill Shamrocks club in Cavan will referee the game, his third Senior final having previously taken charge of the 2011 and 2013 Finals.
Over the course of the season research was carried out by DCU’s Aidan Brady in conjunction with STATSports on all of the 20 referees distance and speed stats from Senior championship games showing just how hard they work!
