10 Oct STATSports become official technology partners of Iceland FA
STATSports have been announced as the official GPS player tracking Supplier of the Icelandic International teams.
STATSports, which tracks performance data through a GPS tracker placed in the player’s performance vest, will be used across Iceland senior men’s and women’s teams.
In addition to working with the national side, the Irish-based company want to make their technology as accessible as possible for grassroots teams in Iceland and will be planning to engage with local coaches through this partnership.

In recent years, the Icelandic national teams have taken big steps when it comes to player performance tracking and data analysis and the contract with STATSports is another forward step on that journey.”
STATSports signed their first Icelandic club side at the end of 2021 and now also have several club sides in the region using the technology including KR Reykjavik, IA, Throttur Reykjavik and FC Grotta.
The KSI implemented a plan pre 2000 which included commissioned ‘Football houses’ – artificial pitches, school pitches (all schools have a 5-a-side pitch) and heavy investment in the training of coaches. 1 in 500 people in Iceland is a UEFA qualified coach. The partnership with STATSports further shows the KSI’s commitment to developing football in the country.
